Delhi Engineering College Trust was established with the help of the UK Government and the Federation of British Industries in London. Later H.R.H. Prince Philips, Duke of Edinburgh, during his visit to India, laid the foundation stone of the College at Hauz Khas on January 28, 1959.

The College of Engineering & Technology was registered as a Society on 14th June 1960.

The first admissions were made in 1961. The students were asked to report at the College on 16th August 1961 and the College was formally inaugurated on 17th of August 1961 by Prof. Humayun Kabir, Minister of Scientific Research & Cultural Affairs. & In 1963 name of The College of Engineering & Technology renamed as IIT Delhi.

Since its inception, over 48000 have graduated from IIT Delhi in various disciplines including Engineering, Physical Sciences, Management and Humanities & Social Sciences. Of these nearly 5070 received Ph.D. degrees.

The number of students who graduated with B.Tech degree is over 15738. The rest obtained Master’s Degree in Engineering, Sciences and Business Administration. These alumni today work as scientists, technologists, business managers and entrepreneurs.

Established in 1958, the second of its kind, IIT Bombay was the first to be set up with foreign assistance. The funds from UNESCO came as Rubles from the then Soviet Union. With the  recommendations of the Sarkar committee in view, the first Indian Institute of Technology was born in May 1950 in Hijli, Kharagpur, in the eastern part of India. Initially the IIT started functioning from 5, Esplanade East, Calcutta and very soon shifted to Hijli in Sept. 1950.

The present name ‘Indian Institute of Technology’ was adopted before the formal inauguration of the Institute on August 18, 1951, by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.The history of IIT Kharagpur is thus intimately linked with the history of the Hijli Detention Camp. This is possibly one of the very few Institutions all over the world which started life in a prison house.

There were 224 freshers and 42 teachers in August 1951 when the first session started. The class rooms, laboratories and the Administrative office warehoused in the historic building of the Hijli Detention Camp. The Institute started its academic program with only ten Departments. The vast tree-laden campus, spreading over 2100 acres has a self-contained township of over 15,000 inhabitants. Currently we have about 550 faculty, 1700 employees and 9000 students on the campus.

Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, established in 1959, is one of the premier institutions established by the Government of India. Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, the sixth member of the IIT fraternity, was established in 1994. The academic program of IIT Guwahati commenced in 1995.

The Birla Institute of Technology & Science, BITS Pilani is an all-India Institute for higher education. The primary motive of BITS is to “train young men and women able and eager to create and put into action such ideas, methods, techniques and information”.

The Institute is a dream come true of its founder late Mr G.D.Birla – an eminent industrialist, a participant in Indian freedom struggle and a close associate of the Father of Indian Nation late Mahatma Gandhi. The National Institute of Technology (formerly known as Regional Engineering College) Tiruchirappalli, situated in the heart of Tamil Nadu on the banks of the river Carvery, was started as a joint and co-operative venture of the Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu during 1964 with a view to catering to the needs of man-power in technology for the Country.

Because of this rich experience, this institution was granted Deemed University Status with the approval of the University Grants Commission, the All India Council for Technical Education and the Govt. of India in the year 2003 and was renamed as National Institute of Technology. NIT was registered under the Societies Registration Act XXVII of 1975.

“75 years of Tradition of excellence in Engineering & Technology Education, Research and Innovations” Delhi College of Engineering, (initially established with the name – Delhi Polytechnic) came into existence in the year 1941 to cater the needs of Indian industries for trained technical manpower with practical experience and sound theoretical knowledge.

The institution was set up at historic Kashmiri Gate campus as a follow up of the Wood and Abott Committee of 1938. In 1952 the college was affiliated with University of Delhi and started formal Degree level Programs. 

The department of Architecture later became the School of Planning and Architecture, now a Deemed University and Institution of National importance. Till 1962, the college was under the direct control of Ministry of Education, Government of India. In 1963, the administration of the college was handed over to Delhi Administration.

Delhi College of Engineering was under the administrative control of Department of Technical Education & Training, Govt. of NCT of Delhi. For academic purposes, the college was affiliated to University of Delhi since 1952. From July 2009, the DCE has become Delhi Technological University vide Delhi act 6 of 2009.

Indian Institute of Information Technology Allahabad is a public university located in Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh state in northern India. It is one of the nineteen Indian Institutes of Information Technology listed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development.

The Jhalwa campus includes three Computer Centers with several labs each, lecture halls, a newly built auditorium, electronic library, and a residential campus. Various other facilities are under development.

The NSC complex includes five laboratories, eight computer laboratories, five lecture halls, a conference room, auditorium, library, cafeteria, office space and other facilities. The total covered area is about 25,000 sq. ft. Besides this, there is an open space of 50,000 sq. ft. that is used for parking, lawns and sporting activities.

The new campus has been developed on 100 acres of land at Devghat, Jhalwa, on the outskirts of Allahabad.
